Author John E. Batchelor was at the Gaston County Public Library on Garrison Boulevard on November 8, signing copies of his first book entitled Chefs of the Mountains: Restaurants and Recipes of Western North Carolina. The book outlines 40 of the top restaurants found in the authors travels through the western hills of the state.

The free dental clinic for people who cannot afford dental care is set to get underway on September 21 and 22 but organizers say that that at least 30 more dentists will be needed to tend to the expected number of participants. They are therefore looking for a response from volunteering dentists.
